MEDINA: VISIT INSIDE & OUTSIDE MOSQUE

Nabawi Mosque

  • Also known as Al-Masjid An-Nabawi or the Prophet's Mosque.
  • The tomb of the Prophet Muhammad is located inside the Al-Masjid An-Nabawi, in a chamber called the Raudhah.

Saqifah Bani Saidah

  • After the death of Rasulullah S.A.W, Khalifah Abu Bakar, Umar & Uthman met in Saqifah Bani Saidah.
  • Discussing where to place the remains of the Prophet Muhammad & who would replace him as Khalifah.

Maqam Rasulullah SAW, Khalifah Abu Bakar & Sayyidina Umar

  • The tomb of Rasulullah S.A.W is surrounded by a high golden fence adorned with calligraphy, as well as 3 holes in the golden barrier.
  • The tombs of Khalifah Abu Bakar & Sayyidina Umar are positioned to the left and right of Rasulullah S.A.W.

It is mentioned in the hadith, "No Prophet is buried except in the place where he died" (Al-Muwatta 1/231)

Al-Baqi Cemetery

  • Also known as Jannat Al-Baqi' (heavenly garden) & also Baqi' Al-Gharqad (garden of small trees).
  • The burial site for the wife, family, children & friends of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.

Al-Tirmidhi narrated that Ibn Abbas (RA) said, "Whenever the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) passed by the graveyards of Medina, he would say, 'Peace be upon you, O inhabitants of the graves. May Allah bestow His forgiveness upon us and upon you.'" (Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Hadith No. 973)

Raudah

  • Raudhah is known as the garden of paradise on Earth, and it is recommended to enhance our piety in this place due to its uniqueness that sets it apart from others.

"The area between my house and my pulpit is a garden from the gardens of Paradise, and my pulpit is situated above my pond."
Please take note of the designated timings to enter Raudhah:
For male the morning session is from 1 AM until Fajr prayer, and the evening session is from Dhuhr prayer until Isha prayer.
For females, the morning session is from 6 AM until 11 AM, and the evening session is from 9:30 PM until 12:00 AM.
Kindly be informed that a booking through the Nusuk app is now mandatory to enter Raudhah.

Quba Mosque

  • It was the first mosque constructed by Muslims.
  • The Prophet's companions finished the Quba' Mosque in 20 nights (after the Hijrah).
Masjid Quba is the second-largest mosque in Madinah after Masjid Nabawi. The verse from Surah At-Tawbah, verse 109, states, "Indeed, the mosque that is founded upon piety (Masjid Quba)."

Qiblatain Mosque

  • It is a mosque with two qibla.
  • The point where Rasulullah S.A.W received the order to change the qiblat (direction of prayer) from Baitul Maqdis to Mecca.
Indeed, We see you ˹O Prophet˺ turning your face towards heaven. Now We will make you turn towards a direction ˹of prayer˺ that will please you. So turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque ˹in Mecca˺—wherever you are, turn your faces towards it. Those who were given the Scripture certainly know this to be the truth from their Lord. And Allah is never unaware of what they do.

Jabal Uhud

  • The battlefield of the battle of Uhud between the Muslim army of Medina & the infidel army of Mecca, which culminated in the martyrdom of 70 Islamic combatants in Syawal of the 3rd year of Hijrah.
Visiting Jabal Uhud, which has a height of approximately 1,050 meters. Its location is about 4.5 kilometers to the north of the city of Medina, Saudi Arabia. Remain still, Uhud, for indeed upon you is a Prophet, a truthful one (Siddiq), and two martyrs. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 3675)

7 Mosque (Trench Warfare)

  • A complex of 6 historic small mosques & often visited, in the city of Madinah.
  • Among the 6 mosques are Al-Fath Mosque, Salman Al-Farsi Mosque, Abu Bakar As-Siddiq Mosque, Umar bin Khattab Mosque, Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque, Fatimah Az-Zahra Mosque.
On the day of the Battle of the Trench (Ahzab or Khandak), the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) prayed for three consecutive days—on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday—at the location of the current mosque, supplicating to Allah SWT for the defeat of the confederate armies. Allah SWT answered this prayer on the third day, which was Wednesday. (Al-Musnad 3/332)

  • It is a place of wukuf on every 9th of Zulhijjah every year for those who perform Hajj.
  • The place where Prophet Adam A.S and Hawa were thrown down from heaven for defying Allah S.W.T's command & being duped by the devil's trickery.

  • The area located between Mina & Arafah, and is part of the Holy Land.
"Then, when you depart from the plain of Arafat (heading towards Muzdalifah), remember the name of Allah (by reciting the supplication known as 'talbiah' and engaging in the glorification of Allah) at the sacred site of Masy'ar Al-Haraam (in Muzdalifah)." (Al-Baqarah 198)
