Many places in Osaka accept credit or debit cards, but cash is still preferred at small shops, markets and food stalls. 

Use ATMs at 7-Eleven, FamilyMart or Japan Post for foreign card withdrawals. 

Money exchange counters are available at airports and major shopping areas.

Osaka has a mild, humid climate with four seasons:

Spring (Mar–May): Pleasant, cherry blossom season, 10–20°C

Summer (Jun–Aug): Hot and humid, 25–35°C, with occasional rain

Autumn (Sep–Nov): Cool and crisp, 10–25°C

Winter (Dec–Feb): Mild winter, rarely snowing, 5–10°C

Malaysia enjoys visa-free travel to Japan (up to 90 days) for tourism. 

Just make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months. 

Other nationalities should check the latest entry requirements.

Google Maps / Japan Travel (Navitime) – For transport & navigation

PayPay / Suica App – For cashless payments (optional but convenient)

Google Translate – For menus and signs (scan & translate feature)

Use the ICOCA card for trains, buses and even some convenience stores. 

The Osaka Metro is the easiest way to get around the city. 

For intercity travel, consider the JR Pass (Japan Rail Pass) if visiting multiple regions. 

Apps like Japan Travel by Navitime or Google Maps work well for navigation.

Cash Culture: Many small restaurants, temples and markets only accept cash.

WiFi & SIM: Free WiFi is limited, rent a pocket WiFi or SIM card at the airport.

Local Etiquette: Speak softly in public, stand on the right side of escalators in Osaka (left side is for passing).

Halal Food & Prayer Space: Halal food is available in areas like Namba and Umeda. Prayer spaces are at Kansai Airport, malls and Osaka Mosque. 

Shopping Tax Refund: Spend over 5,000 yen in a day at participating stores to claim a tax refund (8–10%). Bring your passport.

Language: English is limited in Osaka. Use translation apps and simple greetings like “Arigatou” (Thank you) or “Sumimasen” (Excuse me).
