Azerbaijani Manat (AZN)

Credit cards are widely accepted, but carry cash for taxis, markets and small shops.

ATMs are widely available in the city.

The city is windy year-round, so bring a light jacket.

Malaysians require an e-visa to enter Azerbaijan. 

Apply online at evisa.gov.az at least 3 days before travel. The visa is valid for 30 days.

Baku is easy to explore via metro, buses and taxis. 

Use the BakuCard for public transport. 

Bolt and Yandex Go are recommended for taxis. 

Walking is great in the city centre and along the Caspian promenade.

Language: Azerbaijani is spoken, but Russian is common. English is limited, so use translation apps.

Cash is handy for small shops and taxis.

Halal food is widely available. Azerbaijan is a Muslim-majority country.

Prayer spaces are available in malls and mosques, like Teze Pir Mosque.

Dress modestly when visiting religious or local areas.

Bargain politely in markets, and watch for strong winds!
