Cards are accepted at hotels, malls and big shops. 

ATMs are common, especially in Banda Aceh.

Local Transportation

In Banda Aceh, Becak (motorized rickshaws) and ojek (motorcycle taxis) are common for short distances. 

For longer trips, car rentals with drivers are preferred. 

Ride-hailing apps like Gojek or Grab operate in major areas, though availability may vary outside the city. 

Roads are generally well-connected, especially between Banda Aceh and nearby tourist spots like Sabang and Lhoknga.

Sharia Law: Aceh follows Sharia law. Dress modestly and avoid public affection.

Halal & Prayer Facilities: All food in Aceh is halal, with mosques and prayer spaces widely available.

Cultural Etiquette: Respect local customs; ask before taking photos, especially in villages.

Nature & Island Travel: To visit Pulau Weh (Sabang), take a ferry from Ulee Lheue Port. Book early during peak travel seasons.

Friday Closures: Many shops close or pause services during Friday prayer (around 12pm–1.30pm).
