Everyone has wishes and prayers they hope to present to Allah. While supplication can be made at any time, there are certain moments that Allah has chosen as the most blessed for prayers to be granted. These special moments are known as Sa’at al-Istijabah, meaning the time when prayers are more likely to be accepted.

Among the times mentioned in the hadith is the period between the call to prayer (adhan) and the commencement of the prayer (iqamah). Although this is a brief interval, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that prayers made during this time will not be rejected.

Another highly special time is the last third of the night, often between three to four in the morning, when the surroundings are quiet and you rise for tahajud or other voluntary prayers. At this time, Allah Himself “calls” His servants to ask from Him.

Fridays also contain a Sa’at al-Istijabah. There are two main scholarly opinions on when it occurs: the first holds that it is when the imam sits between the two sermons during the Friday khutbah, while the more widely accepted opinion is that it happens in the final moments before Maghrib.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “On Friday, there is a time when no Muslim stands in prayer and asks Allah for something except that He will grant it to him," Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim.

Prayers are also accepted when it is raining, as it is a sign of Allah’s mercy descending. For those who are fasting, the moment before breaking the fast is also among the times when prayers are not rejected.

To make your supplications more effective, there are several recommended etiquettes: begin by praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet, pray with a humble and sincere heart, face the qiblah, have firm conviction that Allah will answer and repeat the supplication several times.

In short, Sa’at al-Istijabah is a special opportunity for you to ask anything from Allah. If you know the times and pray with sincerity, God willing, your prayers will be answered.
