What is Qurban?

Qurban means slaughtering certain livestock on the 10th to 13th Zulhijjah with the intention of 'taqarrub' to Allah SWT. 'Taqarrub' means an act or practice that is intended to bring you closer to Allah Almighty. Qurban worship is the most beloved practice of Allah on the feast of Aidiladha & sunnah which is almost never abandoned by all the companions & salafussoleh.

What are the conditions to perform Qurban?

The conditions for performing Qurban are as follows: - A Muslim - An adult - Of sound mind (rational) - Being financially able to do so - An independent person

What is the ruling of performing Qurban?

The ruling to perform Qurban is 'sunnah muakkad' — which means that it is highly recommended as a confirmed sunnah.

What are the types of obligatory Qurban?

Obligatory Qurban includes: - Qurban based on the will of the deceased (Wasiat) - Qurban Nazar, which is a vow to perform Qurban - Qurban Ta'yin, which is a sacrifice intended on a particular animal.

Is it permissible to perform Qurban on behalf of the deceased?

It is not advisable to do so unless based on the will of the deceased.

Is it permissible to perform Qurban for my young children?

Yes it is, with the purpose of educating the child and (at the same time) the parent should guide the child on the intent of Qurban.

Can I perform one portion of a cow for my whole family?

One (1) portion of cow is meant for one (1) individual only. However, it is encouraged for the participant to intend (pray) for the sharing of the reward from Allah through Qurban among family members.

Can Qurban be performed on behalf of another person?

Yes, but it is necessary to tell the person that he intends to perform Qurban. Example: A child may perform Qurban on behalf of his parents in the village. However, the parents must have the intention (niat) to do so for the Qurban to be complete.

Is a representative contract required?

A representative contract should be made for those who represent the execution of Qurban to the program secretariat. The intention (niat) of the participants is also sufficient as a contract of representation.

Is it permitted for those in financial debt to perform Qurban?

Those with long-term financial debts such as home instalments, car instalments and the like are not included in the category of debt prohibited. However, if a person's debt is burdensome to the point of being unable to afford food and necessities, then it is not necessary to perform the act of Qurban.

Can Qurban meat be distributed to non-Muslims?

This is not recommended as the meat is from an animal slaughtered based on worship.

What are the sunnah for those who perform Qurban?

The sunnah includes not cutting their nails, shave/cut any hair on the body and making daily zikir and supplications from the 1st of Zulhijjah until the Qurban is completed.

Can money from aid/donation be spent to perform Qurban?

Yes, depending on one's financial capability.

Do I need to perform Qurban again after performing it last year?

Muslims are greatly encouraged to perform Qurban every year.

What is the best form of Qurban?

It is the act of Qurban performed within one's community, slaughtering of the sacrifice with one's own hands or witnessing it, and participating in the distribution of the meat. Ideally, animals slaughtered should be those with the most meat, the best of which are camels, followed by cows and then goats.

If I have not performed Aqiqah for myself/my child, can I perform Qurban first?

Yes, you may. If the period for Qurban is coming soon, then it is better to perform Qurban first as it can only be performed on 10-13 Dhul-hijjah each year. Meanwhile, Aqiqah can be done any time of the year. If within your capability, you may also opt to do both at the same time.

Where shall Qurban be performed?

IKHLAS, through its partners is performing Qurban in Malaysia (Qurban Local) and 35 other foreign countries (Qurban Abroad). Among the countries in operation are in (ASIA) Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, (AFRICA) Mali, Chad, Kenya, Somalia, Tanzania and also in some refugee camps such as Rohingya (Myanmar-Bangladesh border) & Dadaab (Somalia-Kenya).

Are the animals for Qurban male or female?

Both. Additionally, animal gender is not a condition for whether Qurban is legitimate or not.

What is the size of the animals for Qurban? And of what age are they chosen from?

The size of the livestock follow the standards & conditions of animals that can be slaughtered, mainly: - Maturity (Camels: 5 year; Cows, buffalos & goat: 2 years; Sheep: 1 year) - No form of physical defects or diseases. Additional note: The best animals for slaughter are the ones with most meat, but size and weight are not conditions for the legitimacy of Qurban

Why is the price of Qurban Abroad on IKHLAS more affordable?

We believe in wanting to encourage as many participants as possible to perform the act of Qurban by offering affordable prices. Through our experienced partners, livestock is purchased from countries that have a strong cattle farming industry. Additionally, the purchase of livestock is made directly from cattle farmers and in large quantities to achieve our affordable prices.

Can I request for photos of the Qurban?

We do not provide photos of the individual slaughter due to the large number of livestock to process and the limited execution period.

During this Covid-19 period, how will the Qurban slaughtering process be managed and monitored abroad?

Through our fulfilment partner, we have been advised that slaughtering for Qurban can still be carried out abroad but with limited livestock and strict SOPs. For your information, all matters of livestock purchasing, slaughtering, distribution and reporting will be managed 100% by our representatives abroad with remote monitoring by our fulfilment partner and IKHLAS.

Is the meat from Qurban distributed in cooked or raw form?

Usually, the meat from Qurban will be distributed raw. If there is a need to organize an event, then part of the meat will be cooked.

Is there an option to choose in which country for Qurban Abroad to be performed in?

Participants are not encouraged to choose the fulfilment country for Qurban Abroad. Each registration will be entered into the system and the fulfilment country will be determined by the management according to the needs of each country.

When can I receive my Qurban certificate?

Your Qurban certificate will be available for download from https://qurban.ikhlas.com/status/ within one to two months after the completion of the act of Qurban. This timeframe is important so that our fulfilment partners can compile fulfilment reports from the 35 countries where Qurban Abroad will be carried out in.

Is it sufficient for akad to be made through registration forms only?

Yes. What matters is the intent and the transaction. Furthermore, akad through reading can be found on the online registration form.

Why does the registration form ask for an Affiliate ID?

An affiliate ID is only required if you have been recommended to us through one of our affiliates. If you have not found us through an affiliate, you may leave that field blank. It does not affect your Qurban or price in any way.

Why does the registration form ask for an airasia rewards ID?

If you are an existing airasia rewards member, you may key in your airasia rewards ID to earn airasia points. Earn 1 point for every RM2 spent. You can refer to the airasia rewards membership section below for more information.

How can I make a payment?

Payment can be made online via FPX (bank debit) or credit card (Visa & Mastercard).

Why do you only offer payment in Ringgit Malaysia?

Our online Qurban offering on IKHLAS is currently intended for Malaysian residents only. Customers from outside Malaysia may register through our website, however, IKHLAS and its fulfilment partners cannot take responsibility for any difference in price paid as a result of the currency exchange rate imposed by the customer's bank.

What is the refund policy?

On a case-by-case basis, refunds can be made and our customer support team will be on hand to assist you with your request. However, before that, we recommend contacting us for assistance if you experience any issues.
