Restrain Anger

Resisting anger and controlling it is an attitude that is highly commendable and demanded. Allah SWT has said in the Qur'an, when describing some characteristics of pious people:

"Those who donate their wealth in good times and in difficult times, and those who restrain their anger, and those who forgive people's mistakes." (Surah Ali 'Imran (134)

Allah SWT also described among the characteristics of those who believe and put their trust in Him:

"...and when they are angry, they quickly forgive." Surah al-Shu'ara' (37)

Message of the Prophet SAW in Controlling Anger

First: Sit if you are standing, lie down if you are sitting.

Second: Taking ablution.

Third: Avoid making any big decisions.

Fourth: Be quiet.

"When one of you feels angry, let him be silent." (Al-Adab al-Mufrad (245)

It is better to remain silent when angry, because in a state of anger, the words expressed are likely to hurt other people's feelings and may pose a threat to oneself.
